Angry Birds Birthday Party Activities and Games

angry birds activitiesThese party activities recreate the fun of the Angry Birds video game in a series of games in which the kids try to knock down the piglets’ homes, knock the piglets out, and retrieve the eggs for the Angry Birds.

Play the Angry Birds Knock On Wood Game
While all the kids are arriving you can pull out the Angry Birds Knock on Wood board game and let the kids play. This game attempts to bring the video game to life by using angry birds, pigs, a slingshot and wood pieces. The kids setup their own structure and then try to destroy the pigs!

Piglet knockout game
This game is a version of dodgeball, tweaked to fit the Angry Birds theme. It’s the perfect game for using up all that party energy, but make sure you play it outside or in a big indoor space! Here’s how it works:

  • Use foam balls such as this six-ball set available at Amazon. Tape an Angry Birds face to each ball (or use precut, adhesive foam pieces to create Angry Birds faces out of orange triangle for beaks, black rectangles for eyebrows, and white and black circles for the eyes).
  • When you’re ready to play the game, divide the group into two teams—piglets and Angry Birds. The Angry Bird team will try to hit the piglets with the foam balls to get them “out.” Make sure there’s a dividing line that the Angry Birds can’t step over when throwing their missiles.
  • Time the Angry Bird team to see how long it takes them to knock out all the piglets. Then switch teams, so that the piglets get a chance to be Angry Birds and knock out the other team. The team that knocks out the piglets fastest wins a prize.

A fun variation on this game is to put up some obstacles around the piglets and only let the Angry Birds throw a certain number of balls. This makes it more like the actual game which the kids will appreciate!

Angry Birds relay
In this game, two teams of Angry Birds race to knock down a piglet’s home. Here’s how it works:

  • Use Styrofoam, wood, bricks, cardboard or any other materials you choose to set up two piglet structures. Make sure each structure is built with an identical number of items. Place a piglet (this can simply be a green balloon with a pig-face drawn on it with a magic marker) in the center of each structure.
  • When you’re ready to play the game, divide the group into two teams, and have them line up at least 10 feet away from the piglet houses. Team members have to run to the piglet house, pick up one item, and run back to their team in relay. When the entire piglet house has been dismantled piece by piece and brought across, the last person must pop the piglet and run back to the finish line. The team that destroys the house and pops the piglet first wins!

Angry Birds Egg Hunt
This game is a treasure hunt, where the Angry Birds go off in search of their eggs. You can divide the group into two teams—the red Angry Birds and the blue Angry Birds—by handing out red and blue bandannas. The object of the game is to find as many eggs as they can. The team that finds the most eggs wins. The eggs can be chocolate, foil-wrapped eggs, novelty toy eggs like the glow-in-the-dark goo-filled eggs at Birthday Express, or you could purchase empty egg shells at Celebrate Express and fill each one with candy or small surprises.
